Food at the Eddrachilles Hotel

At Eddrachilles we are developing our own distinctive Taste of the North food and drink offering for resident and non-resident guests. Our approach is to provide a delicious combination of local and traditional ingredients, classic culinary skills and contemporary flavours. Our local larder includes shellfish caught in the Bay which borders the hotel’s garden, game from the surrounding Sutherland’s moors, and plants foraged from our woods.

The hotel’s restaurant has the original stone walls and flagstone floors of the eighteenth century manse. It is an authentic Highland home setting for breakfast or dinner.

Our traditional Highland breakfast, served in the Restaurant, is cooked from fresh ingredients to order from 8.00 am until 9.00 am. An earlier breakfast from 7.00 am can be arranged for hillwalkers and other intrepid guests (please notify reception by 9.00 pm on the previous evening). Morning tea and coffee with pastries is also available in the sun lounge from 7.15 am until 10.00 am each day.

Our food is prepared from fresh and, where possible, local ingredients by our chefs. For dinner we offer a table d’hôte menu which changes each day. You may choose either a two or three course option; both include in addition an amuse bouche, home made bread and tea or coffee.

The table d’hôte menu usually includes three starter options (one of which will be vegetarian), four main options (one meat, one seafood/fish, one vegetarian, and a special), and three desserts or cheese board.

Dinner is served in the restaurant 6.30 pm until 8.00 pm, later sittings with advance notice. Reservations for dinner are recommended for non-residents.

Cooking from scratch, our chefs are able to adapt and tailor dishes for guests, but our remote location means that all supplies have to be ordered well in advance. If you have allergies or any dietary restrictions please advise us as soon as practical. We also offer a tempting menu for any guests under 12 years old.

To accompany your meal, there is a wide-ranging wine list, including wine by the glass, or an interesting selection of North of Scotland beers. And our collection of malt whiskies and Scottish craft gins are there to be to be enjoyed - why not indulge in a flight of whiskies with carefully matched chocolates while watching the sunset from our sun lounge...

We are proud of our North of Scotland larder and wider Scottish provenance. Some of our 2017 local suppliers include: Accommodation in Sutherland - Eddrachilles Hotel Food
